  • INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT) WORKSHOP
    • Held On : 11-12 August 2016

Resource Person : Mr Kaushal Kumar , Mr Shravan Kumar,Mr Nazish

      Organizers : Genesis CSE Society

We have been fascinated with gadgets that function on a grander scale but it’s only been in the past several years that we’ve seen IoT’s true potential. It is the concept of everyday objects ¨C from industrial machines to wearable devices ¨C using built-in sensors to gather data and take action on that data across a network. The concept evolved as wireless Internet became more pervasive, embedded sensors grew in sophistication and people began understanding that technology could be a personal tool as well as a professional one. One of the most highly visible and popular pieces of Internet of Things technology is the Nest, a smart thermostat that’s connected to the internet. The Nest learns your family’s routines and will automatically adjust the temperature based on when you’re home or away, awake or asleep, hot or cold, to make your house more efficient and help you save on heating and cooling bills. Simply put, the Internet of Things is the future of technology that can make our lives more efficient. To understand its importance and benefits of this technology GENESIS(The computer science forum) in association with TECHFEST-IIT Bombay and I3indya technologies organised an IOT workshop for students. The key speaker of the workshop was Mr Kaushal Kumar and assisted by Mr Shravan Kumar and Mr Nazish. It was mainly designed to encourage 2 and 3 rd year students OF B.Tech CSE,EC,IT & EN. The workshop was divided into 2 segments.

TRAINING It was aimed at imparting basic knowledge of Internet of Things that covers : Robotics, Embedded Systems, Sensor Management, Micro- controllers, Web servers and TCP/IP.

Students learn to differentiate between Micro-processor and Micro-controller, About ATmega8 MCU,Programming of MCU and reading the environmental parameter, Can design any practical based on Relay, GSM module.

CHALLENGE SESSION comprised of 2 tasks

TASK 1: PC controlled AC appliances

TASK 2: Call using GSM module
